The main theme of our research is taking advantage of organic chemistry to solve the problems of biology. The important mission of our group is to train students with solid theoretical foundation and strong ability of discovering and solving problems in the interface between chemistry and biology. Projects are designed to expose students to the frontiers of current organic chemistry and chemical biology. Our current research interest is focusing on C-N bond formation, particularly, the development of novel methodologies for amide bond formation, the fundamental chemistry of peptide and protein synthesis.
Organic synthetic methodology:
1.Asymmetric synthesis
2.Biomimetic synthesis and total synthesis of natural products
3.Radical chemistry
4.Transition metal catalyzed organic transformations
5.Amide bond formation strategies
Chemical biology:
Chemical synthesis and modification of proteins and investigation of their bio-functions
